March in the Garden
The garden is very slowly waking up after a long New England winter. Seeds are being sown, dahlia tubers are being inventoried, and we’re patiently waiting for the snow to melt.

The Season Ahead

Early in the season, ranunculus and anemones begin to bloom, followed closely by peonies as the garden wakes up for summer.

August marks the beginning of dahlia season, as the first blooms are harvested and gathered into stems and small bouquets. This is when the flower stand really begins to fill up for the season.

The peonies bloom for a fleeting window in early June, usually lasting about two weeks. Their blooms are a favorite and available only while they last.

As the weeks pass, more varieties begin to bloom and the garden fills with color. This is when the season really takes off.

By July, zinnias, cosmos, lavender and other summer blooms begin filling the garden with color.

By September, the garden reaches its peak with dahlias in full bloom. From soft pastels to vibrant corals and wine tones, flowers are available by the stem or gathered into full garden style bouquets.
